Did you put up a gate? Did you post no trespassing signs? If not, then you’re asking for it. Maybe the wind did blow it over. You shouldn’t jump to conclusions. Did I hear someone refer to insurance coverage? Living off the grid means no insurance. If it’s destroyed or stolen, it’s your lose, just like it would have been 200 years ago. I’m not picking here, I’m merely pointing out the facts. I would right this off as a lesson and place the blame on myself if it happened to me.

Off the Grid does not have to be completely out of contact. Some people refer to no public hookups as off grid, some see it as totally staying out of the way of any control or observation. Also called out of the loop.

Many people successfully live “off the grid”. However, judging from the utility poles all around that site, and the ease unwanted visitors found and damaged your site…you were no where CLOSE to being off the grid. More like living under an overpass. Off the grid has no roads, power poles, or people for that matter. Good luck with your endeavor however. I understand the need to be self-sustaining.
